Memorial Day Weekend

I love three day weekends! Everyone is always in a great mood. Sunday's feel like Saturdays and you can't possibly have a case of the "Monday's" because Monday is Tuesday and then before you know it it's Friday again! :-)

We started of the weekend by going to our local zoo in the afternoon. The zoo was great, the heat was not. I've officially decided that we have to treat Naples in the summer as you would treat Northern Alaska in the winter . . . not so many outside activities during the worst part of the day. We are limiting our activities to morning times from this point forward. When you know it's ONLY 95 degrees with ONLY 80 percent humidity, instead of 100 degrees with 100 percent humidity. I'm sweating thinking about it.

Anyway, back to the zoo. They were having a special Dr. Suess day with fun sculptures throughout the park as well as a guest appearance of The Lorax and The Cat in the Hat. We went with Bob and Bern and had a nice time!

Staying in the shade to see the Grinch . . .

We had a nice time on the "jungle cruise" too!

And being a bit shy around a 6 foot tall Cat . . . can't blame the kid!

Next up was a very fun pool party at our friends Keri and Joe's house. They had just put in a new pool and were very excited to show it off. I've decided that this is my new dream pool! It's just the right size and it has an awesome area that's just a few inches deep for the kiddies to play in. And did they play there! It was so much fun to see all my friends and their kids having fun together. I'm still amazed that just a few years ago there were no kids at all and now there's tons and more on the way! Fun times!

Daddy-to-be Brian was such a good sport playing with the kids. Johnathan and him must have had about a hundred animal crackers!

Finally on Memorial Day we had a very fun BBQ at my Mom's place. We were surrounded by great family and friends, it was a fun day!

Johnathan got to spend some quality time with my Grandma . . . I love seeing the two of them together!

Then Johnathan kept on asking to go in the "water, water, water" (pool) so of course I said why not!? He loved watching the big kids splash and play too!

John with "Mingy" (Nikki), he loves her and asks about her all the time!!

Then after he was all dry and dressed my mom started singing the "old woman who swallowed a fly" song and Johnathan does love the song, but Kris caught him doing something adorable . . .

Johnathan loves his Grandma a lot!

Especially when she gives him stickers to play with!

Overall it was a wonderful weekend! We love having so many friends and family close by to spend these happy times with!
